Not Another Sarah Palin Blog (No. 1 in a Series)

I’ve always tried to give an honest opinion of Sarah Palin, which can be tough when she make both extremes on the political spectrum wild out. The left will have fits whenever they hear her name and think photoshopping pics of her youngest son is reasonable political discourse. The right will have you hunted down and killed for ever speaking an ill word. Well, they don’t actually go that far…but they do make your life miserable on Twitter.

When it came to the 2008 campaign, I placed the blame squarely on the utter incompetence of the McCain Campaign. Post election, it was a mix of her own unforced errors and a media that was simply looking for reasons to go after her – because why focus on the stimulus that wasn’t stimulus when another bogus ethic’s complaints was filed against her?

That said, while I’m willing to give her somewhat of the benefit of the doubt because I’ve never had people actively try to destroy and bankrupt my family before, everything from quitting as Governor to the rambling speech and incomprehensible reason why…didn’t make her look like anything close to a serious player on the national stage.   It was also embarrassing for those of us who have been trying to argue on her behalf, and had to respond to our lefty friends with, “Yeah, I’ve got nothing.”

And the noise with the death panels…::rolls eyes::

This isn’t to say that I don’t think using Facebook to get her message out is a bad thing. I think it’s an interesting medium to us, especially when you know that every time you sneeze people are going to report on it. But instead of death panels, let’s focus on things she actually has somewhat of a clue on…

For years, states rich with an abundance of oil and natural gas have been begging Washington, DC politicians for the right to develop their own natural resources on federal lands and off shore. Such development would mean good paying jobs here in the United States (with health benefits) and the resulting royalties and taxes would provide money for federal coffers that would potentially off-set the need for higher income taxes, reduce the federal debt and deficits, or even help fund a trillion dollar health care plan if one were so inclined to support such a plan.

So why is it that during these tough times, when we have great needs at home, the Obama White House is prepared to send more than two billion of your hard-earned tax dollars to Brazil so that the nation’s state-owned oil company, Petrobras, can drill off shore and create jobs developing its own resources? That’s all Americans want; but such rational energy development has been continually thwarted by rabid environmentalists, faceless bureaucrats and a seemingly endless parade of lawsuits aimed at shutting down new energy projects.

I would prefer it if she spent the better part of the next year not speaking. Everytime she speaks (and/or says something that makes you say “huh?”), it’s a day we’re talking aboot her and not Democrat infighting for the failing Obamacare.

If she’s serious aboot staying on the national stage (I never though she’d run for President in 2012, and pegged her more for a senate run in 2014), take some of the advance from the ludicrous amount she’s getting from her book and higher a political director. A serious one (i.e., someone who isn’t from Alaska).

Even the most devout Kool-aid drinking Palinbots will admit she needs at least a little bit of reinvention. In order to do that, it would help if she disappeared for a while.

UPDATE: Getting warmer…

UPDATE DEUX: Oh, that Arlen…

UPDATE TRES: Here we go again…

  1. Why is it so hard for you to understand her reasons? Is it because you have a brain that’s only half the size of her brain? She makes the most sense, and she says the truth. She cannot be bought … this is why she has fans. The only way you could have fans is to attack her. And even then, you can’t have as many as she does. I hope someone bankrupts you the way others tried to bankrupt her. Only then you will grow more brain and understand her.
