Who the Hell is Charles Boustany?

With Dear Leader set to descend upon the masses tonight and lecture us as to why…come to think of it, I have no idea what exactly he’s talking aboot. All I know is that it has something to do with health care, and the networks are actually letting us respond this time. I’ve been on one person crusade for the person giving the response to be Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI).

As you may know buy now, I’m a big fans of Ryan’s. He’s young, brilliant when it comes to budgetary and economic matters, and not to mention comes with his own health care reform alternatives. Makes perfect sense, no? Apparently it didn’t to the GOP. They’re going with Charles Boustany.

I know you’re thinking, “John, not THE Charles Boustany!”

Here is JBdotC congressional correspondent John Boehner with more…

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) announced today that Cong. Charles Boustany (R-LA) will deliver a Republican address following the President’s speech to a Joint Session of Congress on Wednesday, September 9th. Boustany, a doctor with more than 20 years of medical experience, has long advocated for reforms that lower health care costs for all Americans and believes that maintaining the doctor-patient relationship must be a critical component of any proposal. “Dr. Boustany has been a tireless advocate for reform that lowers health care costs and expands access for the American people at a price our nation can afford,” Boehner said. “He understands why a Washington bureaucrat – as Democrats have proposed – should never get between a doctor and his patient. I’m pleased Charles has agreed to speak to the American people about a Republican vision for reform and the need for both parties to come together to craft a responsible proposal at a time when people across the country are focused on jobs.”

Earlier this year, Boehner asked Boustany to reach out to Congressional Democrats to find a bipartisan approach to health care reform. Despite Boustany’s efforts, Democrats refused to work with him and other Republicans on a responsible proposal that the American people could support. “As a doctor, I know we must lower costs and improve care, which we can accomplish by focusing on strengthening the doctor-patient relationship and working in a bipartisan way,” said Boustany. “Health care is a kitchen table issue that affects all Americans, and I believe we need an honest discussion about how we come together to fix what’s broken, while building on what works. That’s why I’m pleased the President will speak to Congress tomorrow night, and I look forward to presenting commonsense reforms that Republicans and all Americans can stand behind.”

Let’s just say, I hope this guy works out then the last cat from Lousianna who gave a response to Dear Leader’s speech…

  1. Hello Republicans:
You are the party of spending money. In the past 40 years Republicans have run the debt up. The Republicans repealed the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933 in 1994 and then we had to big to fail. Read Reckless by Byron Dorgan.
When it comes to health care reform I have one big fat suggestion for all you conservative free market people. A comment first, third party pay does not make for a free market. Government between me and my doctor is like my insurance company saying it is not medically necessary. People without health care insurance should be able to get the same best going rate for doctor, hospital, and testing procedures as health care insurance companies. They should maybe be a big cash discount. Right now if you don’t have insurance you may pay 3 to 5 times the insurance rate. Also, Republicans why does Medicare have to pay first before private insurance companies. Republicans why don’t you all just come clean and tell everyone you are the Party of the CEO and big corporations and the big fat government contractors.
Keep up the good work scaring old people with the color coded terror chart and death panels. Keep yelling drill baby drill when the days of cheap oil are gone, face it boys it is a finite resource. Renewable energy will let us kick OPEC in the rear. With the $1,000,000,000 Iraq war debt we could all have a fuel cell car. It runs on Water.
Dear Republicans, Ronald Reagan deregulated our economy then the banks started to fail like falling dominos. If you want good competition you need set rules like the NBA or NFL. Right now big piles of money are being made and no goods or services are being produced. I call you to one example, Andrew J. Hall made $100,000,000 on oil speculation(remember Enron).
As both an Economist and a Doctor, I can tell you Republicans that our present economy does have some free markets, but the Special Interest of big corporations runs the show, AMA,AHA,ABA,Pharma and AHIP just to name a few.
I want to express may thanks to the George W. Bush administration for adding to the National Debt at a record breaking pace all while taking more vacation days than any other President in history, and not just one War, but Two. Don’t mess with Texas.
God Bless all the Republicans that think the earth is 6000 years old and may you keep electing candidates on abortion and gay issues since it gets the herds out to vote. Over 200,000 people died in the Tsunami of 2004 and zero animals. Fox News makes fun of Animals rights. Who is smarter?
