UFC 103 should have been called “UFC 103: YOU JUST GOT KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT” as all the fights ended with either a knock out or TKO. We’ve got the result from last night, who’s next for both Anderson Silva and Georges St. Pierre, and more.
UFC 103 RESULTS: Vitor Belfort knocked out Rich Franklin, Josh Koscheck did the same to Frank Trigg, Junior Dos Santos scored a TKO over the seriously needs to retire Mirko Cro Cop, Paul Daley defeated Martin Kampmann in what some are calling a bad stoppage, and Tyson Griffin beat Hermes Franca.
VITOR BELFORT: “The Phenom” is back, and Dana White already said that Vitor Belfort would probably be the next opponent for Anderson Silva, setting up the Dan Henderson vs. Nate Marquardt fight to face the winner. The rub is that Silva is out for the rest of 2009 thanks to shoulder surgery.
GEORGES ST. PIERRE: Mike Swick vs. Martin Kampmann was supposed to determine who Georges St. Pierre would face next for his welterweight title. The rub is that Swick was injured and Kampmann got TKO’ed by his replacement. So who is next for GSP? I’d like to suggest UK fighter Dan Hardy. He’s 3-0 on the UFC, his last win coming after a sick fight with Marcus Davis. If he beats his next opponent in his usual impressive fashion, maybe a GSP vs. Hardy fight headlining the next European card?
RANDY COUTURE: I mentioned a few weeks ago that Randy Couture was stepping down to the light heavyweight division, and we know who his first opponent is going to be…Brendon Vera. They will be headlining UFC 105, free on Spike TV and originating from jolly ol’ England. I’ll be honest; Vera has been kinda boring since he started losing fights, so I’m not sure what this fight against Couture will bring.
ULTIMATE FIGHT NIGHT: If you haven’t had an opportunity to catch the last Ultimate Fight Night, find out when Spike TV is airing it again and set your TiVo. Three out of the four sickest free fights I’ve seen in a while. As a public service, I won’t even spoil the results here. You won’t be disappointed.
